Community Engagement

At Shift2, the work happening inside our walls goes beyond refurbishing computers. We've built real, ongoing partnerships with organizations across Rochester that share a commitment to inclusion, opportunity, and community.

Community Volunteers

For over six years, Shift2 has partnered with Holy Childhood’s Adult Community Habilitation Program. Two days a week, a team of adults with different abilities joins us in our office and warehouse to help with real tasks across our operation. Tasks like scanning computers for recycling, matching laptops with chargers, cleaning screens and disassembling computer components for recycling. This is a welcoming, inclusive environment where participants build real job skills and work toward greater independence.

The partnership was recognized at Shift2’s Key Celebration with the Positive Partner Award, honoring groups who dedicate their time and talents to support the Shift2 mission.

Work Experience

Shift2 is a participating site location for AutismUp’s Community Work Based Assessment (CWBA) program, a job training initiative that gives students real workplace experience in a supported environment.

The CWBA program places students at local businesses and worksites where they can learn new skills, try different tasks, and build confidence in a real-world setting. To date, Shift2 has hosted over 16 students through the program.

The hands-on nature of our work makes Shift2 a natural fit. Students engage directly with the refurbishment process, building practical skills that translate to future job opportunities. We’re glad to open our doors to this program and the students it serves.
