What’s in a Name?
Our organization was founded in 2018 under the name The Shore Foundation. At our 5 year anniversary in 2023 we unveiled our rebranding to the name Shift2.
There is more to our story than just numbers of computers, and the amount of organizations we have supported. The real impact is how that computer, tablet or device helped someone. Everyday our team at works diligently to change the direction of a corporate-used computer from going into a landfill to fulfilling another person’s potential to succeed.
And we needed a name for our organization that better tells that story, which is why our organization is known as Shift2.
What’s in a Name?
- A Shift refers to a change in direction, or elevating.
- 2 embodies the idea of second chances, not just for our devices but for the people who receive them.
When put together on a computer keyboard Shift+2 creates the “@” symbol, the primary icon for linking together in our modern world.
With this, Shift2 implies there is second direction for devices to make an impact, and is the ultimate symbolism for connection.
