Megan Alchowiak, Executive Director of Shift2 (then The Shore Foundation), was named to the Rochester Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 class of 2022, a recognition of young professionals making a meaningful impact in the Rochester community.

For Megan, the honor was less about herself and more about the city around her. “Rochester is known as a community with a genuine spirit of giving and volunteering,” she said. “Our city has way more than 40 talented and compassionate business professionals doing great work for our community.”

That spirit comes through in how she leads. When asked how she inspires change as an up-and-coming leader, Megan pointed to showing up for every part of the work. “Being a hands-on leader is very important to me and I believe that no task is above or beneath a true team player. My goal is to create a work environment that leverages individual talent, encourages continual learning and provides the freedom to try something new.”

The most important part of her job? The relationships. Connecting with local schools and nonprofits to understand the real need for technology, and then getting devices directly into the hands of people who need them. At the time of the recognition, The Shore Foundation had provided 2,131 refurbished computers to individuals and families through partnerships with 49 nonprofit organizations and schools across Rochester.

Congratulations, Megan.
